In 2003, Chemical Engineering Department, Syiah Kuala University collaborated with Graduate School of Environmental and Information Science Yokohama National University, Japan organized the 1st International Conference on Chemical Engineering Sciences and Applications. Then continued in 2015 and 2017, the 2nd and 3rd of ICChESA were organized by Chemical Engineering Department, Syiah Kuala University, Indonesia Indonesia together with the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia. After that, in 2019 the conference name has been changed into The International Conference on Chemical Engineering and Applied Sciences  (ICChEAS) which was organized collaboratively by four University (Diponegoro University, Syiah Kuala University, Riau University and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia).
